MAlOYD THOMAS AGE 92,

A loving husband and father, an avid farmer, cattleman, fisherman and hunter, died at 8:17 am Friday August 2, 2013 at his home in Franklinton. He was born on January 25, 1921 in Walthal County, MS the son of Murphy J. Thomas and Rosette Ard Thomas. He was married 72 years to his loving wife Inez McCain Thomas. Maloyd was a longtime employee of Thigpen Concrete and a member of First Baptist Church of Franklinton. He was a Civil Conservation Corps volunteer serving during the great depression and working throughout the United States.

Survived by:

Wife of 72 years: Inez McCain Thomas of Franklinton

2 Grandsons: John Keith Thomas of Metairie, William Dane Thomas of Franklinton

Nephew: Roderick Cornelius Smith of Texas

He was preceded in death by a son Richard Dane Thomas, his parents Murphy J. Thomas and Rosette Ard Thomas, a sister Evelyn Thomas Smith and nephew Brett Raynard Smith.

Visitation will be at Crain Funeral Home Monday August 5th from 9 am until 11 am. A celebration of Maloyd's life will be held at 11 am Monday in the funeral home chapel with Rev. Paul Watts officiating.

Burial will follow in the Poplarhead Missionary Baptist Church Cemetery.

Her parents were Houston and Lizzie Spears McCain.

She was preceded by her husband Maloyd Thomas, her son Richard D. Thomas, a sister Lonie McCain Thomas and brothers Goat McCain and Ellis McCain.

She was a former cafeteria cook with the Washington Parish School Board, working at Franklinton Primary and Franklinton Elementary for many years. she was an expert at canning the vegetables grown in her family’s garden and she taught many of her neighbors and friends how to can as well. she was a member of the Trinity Baptist Church near her home and she enjoyed traveling with her grandchildren to Gatlinburg, TN.
