Husband of Ella Mae Creel Thomas
Devon William Thomas, 61, a resident of Howell Street in Campbellsville, KY, son of the late J.P. "Buck" Thomas and Ida Mae Chain Thomas, was born in Washington Parish on June 21, 1939. He died at 5 a.m. Sunday in Campbellsville.
He had professed faith in Jesus Christ and was a member of the Elkhorn Tabernacle. He had served his country in the United States Army and was stationed overseas in Germany. A retired welder, he was united in marriage to the former Ella Mae Creel July 17, 1965. She preceded him in death February 22, 1998.
He is survived by a son and two daughters, J.F. Erwin of Pascagoula, MS, Loretta Parker of Lafayette, LA, and Donna Turnage of Bogalusa; a brother and sister, Marvin Thomas of Holden, LA, and Sibyl Cesario of Baton Rouge; twelve grandchildren; seventeen great-grandchildren; and several other relatives and friends.
In addition to his wife, he was also preceded in death by a daughter, Linda Gail Phelps in 1999.
Visitation was yesterday at Brown-McGehee Funeral Home from 11 a.m. until 10 p.m. and continued after 8 a.m. today until time for the service at 10 a.m. at Brown-McGehee Funeral Home. Brother Charlie Russell Cox officiated.
Burial followed in Star Hill Cemetery in Franklinton.
Brown-McGehee Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.
