Husband of Frances Wood Thomas

JEWELL DENNIS THOMAS, Age 88 and a resident of Tylertown died at 6:40 pm Wednesday February 25, 2009 at his home. He was a U.S. Army veteran of World War II having been awarded a Purple Heart. He was dairy, beef, and tree farmer throughout his life and was a member of Lawrence Creek Missionary Baptist Church. Mr. Thomas was an avid fisherman and hunter who cherished time spent with his grandchildren and was always a loving father and grandfather.
Survived by: Wife: Frances Wood Thomas of Tylertown, Son and daughter in law: Teddy and Jo Ann Thomas of Tylertown, Daughter: Marion Stroud of Tylertown, 5 Granddaughters: Denise McCullough of Memphis, TN; Fran Conway of Kenner, LA, Tina McClendon of Sandy Hook, Crystal Thomas; Virginia Thomas both of Tylertown, 2 Grandsons: Sam Thomas of Tylertown, Ron Thomas of Franklinton, 3 Great grandsons and 1 great granddaughter, 1 Brother: Dorman Thomas, 7 Sisters: Mary Trusty, Elsie Manos, Theresa Seibert, Eloise French, Luevayon Craddock, Carolyn Groves, Jan Hostetler
He was preceded in death by a son Ronnie Thomas, parents Sam and Edwena Crain Thomas, a brother Elgin Thomas and two sisters Jessie Richardson and Bessie Wood. Visitation will be at Crain Funeral Home Saturday, February 28th from 9 am until time of the funeral service at 11 am in the funeral home chapel with Eld. Lerand Hunt officiating. Burial will follow in the Thomas Cemetery.
