Dorothy Evelyn Stewart Thomas, age 90, born May 26, 1921 in Bogalusa, LA, passed away into eternal peace on Thursday, April 5, 2012 after a long battle with Alzheimer's disease, at Rest Haven Living Center in Bogalusa, LA. Dorothy was a member of Superior Avenue Baptist Church.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Curby Thomas; her parents George and Evelyn Stewart; siblings, Lt. Jessie Elmo Stewart and Evie Stewart King.

She is survived by three loving and devoted sons, McElleree (Ruby) Knight of Slidell, LA, George Michael (Priscilla) Knight of Gautier, MS and Howard Elmo Knight of Bogalusa, LA; five grandchildren; numerous nieces and nephews.

Visitation will be held at Poole-Ritchie Funeral Home on Saturday, April 7, 2012 from 12:00 P.M. until the Funeral Service at 2:00 P.M. The Rev. Clay Norwood and Willard Polk will be officiating with Interment to follow at Ponemah Cemetery.


The family would like to thank Dorothy's-in-home caregivers, Juanita, Denea, Edrica and Eartha for all of their love and care for their mother.

Active Pallbearers will be her grandsons.
