A Mass of Christian Burial will be held Saturday, September 21, 2013, 1:30 PM, St Paul Catholic Church for Mr. John Daniel Dugas, Sr., 87. He will be buried in Calvary Cemetery. Fr Robert Seay will officiate the service.
John Daniel Dugas Sr was born April 25, 1926 to Joseph Dugas and Elise Parker. He was a good man and he lived a good life. Everyone who had the pleasure of knowing him knew that his children and grandchildren meant the world to him and for them there was nothing he would not do. John was a proud veteran who bravely served his country in World War II before being honorably discharged. He was a hard worker and dedicated employee of University Medical Center and University of Southwestern Louisiana for many years. On Tuesday, September 17, 2013 he was called home to meet his Lord and Savior Jesus Christ.
Left to cherish his memory are his children Daisy Shelvin (Joseph “Tessie”), Carolyn Dugas (Israel), Debra Sampy, and John Dugas Jr (Dana) and their mother Alice Dugas and Brittany Dugas and her mother Janet Wilson; grandchildren Kevin Shelvin (Roxanne), Drucilla Simpson, Kirklyn Ford Sr. (Wendy), Danielle Shelvin (Travis), Lawrence Dugas (Kacie), Jazmine Faulk (Rochelle), Jamal Dugas (Goshlyn), Tynisha Williams (Richard), Johnetta Batiste (Terry), Douglas Dugas (Nya), Chastity Shelvin, Jasper Dugas, and Kristen Armstead; 30 great-grandchildren;2 cousins Father Joseph Alexander and James Alexander; 5 god children and a host of relatives and friends.
He was preceded in death by mother and step-father Elise Parker and Renee Parker and father Joseph Dugas; son Kenneth Dugas; granddaughter Collette Dugas; and sister-in-law Theresa Celestine.
Viewing will be Saturday, September 21, 2013, from 7:00AM -1:00PM at Kinchen Funeral Home.
The family of John Daniel Dugas Sr would like to offer our sincere appreciation for many kind and thoughtful expressions of sympathy during our time of loss. It has meant so much to our family. We would also like to thank the Staff of St. Agnes Nursing Home especially Deanna, Katie, and Wanda as well as the Staff at Heart of Hospice
