April 24, 1937 - June 9, 2018
Lafayette - A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10:00 am Wednesday, June 13, 2018 in the Sunrise Chapel at Walters Funeral Home for Nolan Dugas, 81, who passed away Saturday, June 9, 2018. Father Gary Schexnayder will officiate the ceremony.Interment will be immediately following the service in Greenlawn Memorial Gardens.
Visitation hours will be observed Tuesday, June 12, 2018 from 10:00 am until 9:00 pm and resume Wednesday, June 13, 2018 8:00 am until time of service at 10:00 am. A rosary will be prayed Tuesday evening at 6:30 pm.
Survivors include wife, Geraldine A Dugas of Carencro; sons Michael Dugas of Carencro and Kevin Dugas (Alma) of Carencro; sister Iris LeBlanc (Loveless) of Lafayette; grandchildren Joshua Goodwin, Jakob Goodwin, Kayla Dugas, Ashley Dugas, and Ross Hebert; great-grandchildren, Jace Hebert, Ender Goodwin, Reese Goodwin, and Rhett Judice; and one niece, Lachell Lopez.
He was preceded in death by his parents Victoria and Neville Dugas; daughter, Donna Lynn Goodwin and his half-brother, Willard "Buss" Dugas.
A native of Lafayette and a resident of Carencro for over 20 years, Nolan served as a member of the United States Navy. He was in the American Legion, Disabled American Veterans, and the Cajun French Music Association, and was employed by both the Evangeline Maid Bread Company and Community Coffee.
Pallbearers will be Michael Dugas, Kevin Dugas, Craig Goodwin, Joshua Goodwin, Jakob Goodwin, and Wayne Arceneaux. Honorary Pallbearers are Walter Arceneaux, Vernon Bergeron, Gary Breaux, Jimmy Breaux, Pat Breaux, Leland Colligan, Kenneth "PeeWee" Gerard, Ross Hebert, Don Romero, members of High Performance, and members of Steve Riley and the Mamou Playboys.
Walters Funeral Home, (337) 706-8941, 2424 North University Avenue in Lafayette, is in charge of funeral arrangements.
