Vernie Dillon Barber: The Era-Leader – 3 Sep 1997 Mrs. Vernie Dillon Barber, 64, a resident of the Hackley community died at 5:30 a.m. at her residence. She is survived by her husband Edward Barber of Hackley; tow sons and daughters-in-law, Dale and Kim Barber and Laney and Inez Barber all of Franklinton; one daughter and son-in-law, Deborah and Dale Magee of Franklinton; another son-in-law, Keith Magee of Franklinton; one brother, Hershell Dillon of Denham Springs; one granddaughter, Kerly Magee; one grandson, Lance Barber; also numerous nieces and nephews. A daughter, Glenda Magee and two brothers, J.T. Dillon and D. D. Dillon, preceded her in death. Visitation was held at Crain Funeral Home from 5 p.m. until 10 p.m. Tuesday and after 8 a.m. Wednesday in the funeral home chapel with Rev. W.L. Tullos officiating. Burial followed in the Magee Cemetery at Lawrence Creek. Active Pallbearers for the service were Keith Magee, Randy Dillon, Wendell Vince, Richard Stogner, Phillip Barber, and Kelvin McCain. Honorary pallbearers for the service were, Richard Copp, Kenneth Dillon and Steve Dillon.
