Era-Leader 7 January 1998 Mr. David Ray Barber, 58, a resident of the Lawrence Creek Community died at 2:10 a.m. Wednesday at St. Tammany Hospital in Covington. He was retired assistant manager of Washington Co-op in Franklinton and a member of theLawrence Creek Missionary Baptist Church. Mr. Barber is survived by his wife, Nellene Magee Barber of Lawrence Creek, two sonsand a daughter-in-law, Michel and Wendy Barber, and Mark Alan Barber, all of LawrenceCreek; and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents Iva and Rosetta Barber. Visitation was held at the Crain Funeral Home from 6 p.m. until 10:30 p.m. Wednesdayand after 11 a.m. Thursday. Funeral services were held at 3 p.m. Thursday in the funeral home chapel with Eld. Don Jacobs, Eld Doyle Ball and Eld. Willie J. Passman officiating. Burial followed in the Magee Cemetery at Lawrence Creek. Active pallbearers for the service were James Creel, Daniel Phelps, Haze Whaley,Monroe McElveen, Marvin Thomas, Ed Graves, and Ray Barber. Honorary pallbearers for the service were the Lawrence Creek Boys Singing Group withWendell Vince, Tim Phelps, Lester Thomas, Hermon Ingram, Myron Tullos, Kevin Voth, Mark Stewart, Steve Stewart, and Edgar Jenkins. Accompanist were Marie Vince and Janet Thomas.
