Lurleane Hunt Jenkins, Age 87
a lifelong resident of Washington Parish died at Good Samaritans Nursing Home Franklinton, LA Friday, February 20, 2009.
She was a member of Trinity Baptist Church where she served on the Board of Trustees for more than 30 years and many years as Church Secretary and WMU Director. She was a loving Mother, Grandmother and Great Grandmother. She was also known for opening her home to many of her "extended family" in order to provide them with a safe haven in their time of need.
Survived by Two sons and daughter-in-laws: Bill W. and Judy Jenkins of Pekin IL, Rev. Larry V. and Katherine Jenkins of Franklinton, Two granddaughters: Joni Jenkins, New Orleans LA, Stacy and Thomas Ashton of Saudi Arabia, One grandson: Arthur "Blaine" and Carolyn Jenkins of Jonesboro AR, One great granddaughter Olivia Jenkins, Jonesboro AR
She is also survived by numerous nieces and nephews whom she loved as her own children.
She was preceded in death by her husband Zelimer J. "Bud" Jenkins. Her parents Alonzo "Lonnie" and Julie Hunt and three brothers Thurman Hunt, Malachi Hunt, Vernon Hunt, and three sisters Versie Freeman, Euna Mae Talley and Melanie Parker.
Visitation will be at Crain Funeral Home from 6 PM until 9 PM Sunday, February 22, 2009 and after 9 AM Monday, February 23, 2009. A funeral service will be held at 2 PM, Monday in the funeral home chapel with Rev. Stan Statham and Rev. Luther Stanford officiating. Burial will follow in the Oak Grove Cemetery.
