Lurleane Hunt Jenkins, Age 87 a lifelong resident of Washington Parish died at Good Samaritans Nursing Home Franklinton, Louisiana Friday, February 20, 2009. She was a member of Trinity Baptist Church where she served on the Board of Trustees for more than 30 years and many years as Church Secretary and WMU Director. She was a loving Mother, Grandmother and Great Grandmother. She was also known for opening her home to many of her "extended family" in order to provide them with a safe haven in their time of need. Survived by sons and daughter-in-laws Bill W and Judy Jenkins of Pekin Illinois, Rev Larry V and Katherine Jenkins of Franklinton, granddaughters Joni Jenkins, New Orleans, Louisiana, Stacy and Thomas Ashton of Saudi Arabia, grandson Arthur "Blaine" and Carolyn Jenkins of Jonesboro, Arkansas, great-grand-daughter Olivia Jenkins, Jonesboro Arkansas.
She is also survived by numerous nieces and nephews whom she loved as her own children.
She was preceded in death by her husband Zelimer J "Bud" Jenkins. Her parents Alonzo "Lonnie" and Julie Hunt and brothers Thurman Hunt, Malachi Hunt, Vernon Hunt and sisters Versie Freeman, Euna Mae Talley and Melanie Parker.
