Joyce Stringer Corkern, age 61, a resident of Amite, died at 8:50 p.m. Sunday, April 2 at Our Lady of the Lake Hospital in Baton Rouge. She was a customer service manager at Wal-Mart in Hammond,

She is survived by two sons and a daughter-in-law, Lester Jenkins of Amite and Edgar Jr. and Jackie Jenkins of Franklinton; two daughters and sons-in-law, Tammy and Steve Stewart, and Tami and Mike Wareham all of Franklinton; grandchildren, Amanda and Macy Wareham, Trey, Tyler, Tanner and Trevor Jenkins, Matthew, Joshua and Delaney Stewart and Gennifer Gibbons; one sister and brother-in-law, Judy and Jimmy Gay of Kentwood; a special nephew, Dewitt Gay; and several other nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Jeffery Corkern; her parents, Woodrow and Elva Barber Stringer; a brother, Wilfred "Butch" Stringer; and a nephew, Wendell Stringer.

Visitation was held at Crain Funeral Home from 6 until 10 p.m. Monday, April 3, and continued after 9 a.m. Tuesday. The funeral service was held at 2 p.m. Tuesday, April 4 in the funeral home chapel with Eld. Marshall Wallace and Eld. Lerand Hunt officiating. Burial followed in the Ellis Cemetery.
