Teresa
September 17, 1961 - March 2, 2022
Married: August 14, 1982
Teresa Cowell Taylor, age 60, of Blanchard, Louisiana was welcomed into her heavenly home on March 2, 2022. Teresa was born September 17, 1961 in Springfield, Missouri and graduated from Airline High School in Bossier City, LA in 1979. She married the love of her life, Don Taylor, on August 14, 1982 at Bossier Baptist Temple, and in 1983, she graduated from Centenary College in Shreveport, LA with her bachelor degree in teaching.
Teresa was a loving daughter, sister, mother, aunt, and friend. She especially loved her role as Mama T, as she was affectionately known by many. Teresa continuously shared smiles, love, and positivity to all who crossed her path. There’s no doubt she impacted many of her students’ lives with those same qualities during her more than 30 years of teaching, first at Herndon, then at Blanchard Elementary School, doing what she loved.
Teresa was a lifelong Christian who was most recently a faithful member of Indian Hills Baptist Church in Blanchard, LA for many years. She enjoyed sharing God’s love with everyone through scriptures, hugs, laughter, and her sweet and caring spirit. Those who knew her could always count on Teresa to lend a listening ear and share encouraging words, no matter what she was facing in her own life. Teresa also enjoyed gardening, cooking, spending time with her grandsons, and living life to the fullest.
Teresa was a strong fighter through her various cancer battles and fought until her body would no longer allow. She deeply loved all of her family, friends, teaching coworkers, and church brothers and sisters. Surrounded by family, she passed peacefully into her Lord and Savior’s loving arms.
Loved ones who preceded her in death were her loving mother, Shirley Cowell, and her dear husband, Don Taylor.
Those left to cherish her memory are her father, Bill Cowell, daughter, Tracie Taylor, siblings, Craig Cowell and wife Cygil, Rick Cowell and wife Serena, Kelly Bollingham, treasured grandsons Axle P. Hamblin, Wells A. Schaff, and William H. Moore, and several nieces and nephews.
Pallbearers: Carter Cook, Allison Schaff, Jesse Cook, Ken Kelly, Zach Polk, Kendal Womack
Honorary Pallbearers: Axle Hamblin, Matt Herrington, Chad Cook
A visitation will be held at Indian Hills Baptist Church in Blanchard, LA on Friday, March 11th from 6:00-8:00 PM. The funeral will be held at Indian Hills Baptist Church on Saturday, March 12th at 2:00 PM. A graveside service will follow at Memorial Gardens Cemetery in Mooringsport.
