Bronze Star Medal
Funeral services celebrating the life of Howard Wesley Taylor, 85, will be held on Monday September 13, 2010 at Rose-Neath's Southside Chapel. Officiating will be Rev. Gary Boswell. Interment with military honors will follow in Centuries Memorial Park Cemetery. Visitation with the family will be from 4 p.m. until 6 p.m. Sunday September 12, 2010 at the funeral home.
Howard was born on February 1, 1925 to John and Cordie Taylor. He passed away on September 9, 2010 in Shreveport where he had been a life-long resident. He was a retired carpenter. Howard proudly served his country in the U.S. Army during WWII in the Normandy, Northern France and Rhineland campaigns. He was a member of Westview Christian Church.
Preceding Howard in death were his parents; brother, Jack Taylor; brother-in-law, Carl Ezernack; son-in-law, Ivy Nicewarner; daughter-in-law, Barbara Taylor; granddaughters, Judith and Jennifer Nicewarner. He is survived by his wife, Marguerite Taylor; sons, William Taylor and wife, Judith, Wesley Taylor and wife, Jill; daughter, Karen Nicewarner; grandchildren, Christopher Taylor, Cara Gunnell, Michael Taylor, Jonathan Taylor, Stephen Nicewarner and Amanda Hamlett; sister, Juanita Ezernack.
Pallbearers will be Michael Taylor, Christopher Taylor, Ricky Womack, Jonathan Taylor, Stephen Nicewarner and Vernon Burgess.
Memorials may be made to Westview Christian Church.
