Ruby Parker was born January 26, 1927 and passed peacefully from this life April 17, 2014. Funeral services will be held 10:00 a.m. Tuesday, April 22, 2014 at Rose-Neath's Southside Chapel. Interment will follow in Forest Park West Cemetery. Visitation with the family will be from 5:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. Monday, April 21, 2014 at the funeral home.

Ruby is preceded in death by her husband, Edgar Parker; father, Joe Green; mother, Myrtle Craig; sister, Martha McLaughlin and half-brother, Frank Craig. She is survived by her sons; Mark Parker, his spouse Mark Uherek, Phillip Parker, his wife Melanie Parker; 3 grandchildren; Brandon and Hannah Parker, Amanda Tate and husband, Dustin; 3 great-grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews.

Ruby was born in Hallsville, TX to Joe and Myrtle Green. After graduating from Kilgore College (where she played trumpet for the Kilgore Marching Band), she moved to Shreveport and worked as a Medical Technologist until her retirement. She worked at numerous area hospitals, including Schumpert, Willis-Knighton, Doctors' Hospital and the Northwest State School.

Honoring her as pallbearers will be Parker Ward, James Simmons, Leonard Bruce, Steve Skinner, J.D. Locke, and Dustin Tate.

In lieu of flowers the family requests donations be made to Alzheimer's disease research.

The family would like to express their deepest gratitude to Cindy Ezernack and the staff of Montclair Park Memory Care Facility for their dedication and exemplary care of our mother.
