Mrs. Sharon Marie Benoit was born December 7, 1953 to Charles Larry Guidry and Rosa Mae McKneely Guidry in Lafayette, LA. She entered into eternal rest on the morning of Sunday, December 11, 2016 at Lafayette General Medical Center Southwest.
Sharon Benoit was the loving wife to Stephen Benoit and the devoted mother to children Stephanie, Shane and Shawn . Her family was of upmost importance to her. She was a supportive mother during all sporting events and school activities that her children participated in. Rather it was helping out with the concession stands at Acadiana High games, being a proud soccer mom, attending dance recitals or just cheering on the kids from the side lines, she was there. Her children knew that they could count on her for love and support. She was the rock in the family. “Mom” always had mothers’ intuition and knew what the kids were doing before they actually did it.
For several years, Sharon held the family together while her husband Stephen worked in Africa to provide for the family, while she continued to serve as the Office Manager for Dr. Samuel Moss. She served in that capacity for over 25 years. In the later years, Stephen returned to work in the United States, he and Sharon were always together. The only time they weren’t together is when they were at work. They enjoyed camping together at Cajun Palms Resort Park. Sharon really enjoyed any activities outdoors but especially fishing. She also enjoyed trips to the New Orleans jewelry show with her family and friends
She was a very special person and had ways of bringing out the best in others and bringing happiness into the room. She would give you the shirt off her back if you needed it or would make you one during her many hours of sewing and quilting. She also enjoyed making rosary beads and other arts and crafts. She was truly a selfless person and always put the needs of others before herself.
Sharon had deep devotion to the Blessed Mother through her Catholic faith. She taught CCD and Sunday School at St. Edmond Catholic Church for several years.
Sharon Benoit leaves to mourn her passing her husband of 41 years Stephen V. Benoit of Lafayette, LA; three children Stephanie Benoit of Lafayette, Shane Benoit of Lafayette and Shawn Benoit of Lafayette; four siblings Charlene (Will) Reinninger of Youngsville, Charles (Lucy) Guidry of Scott, Marc (Mona) Guidry of Atlanta, GA and Michael (Cheryl) Guidry of Atlanta, GA; three grandchildren William Drewett, Kylie Drewett and Cade Benoit. Also her furry son, Yorkie Sir Charles “Ben” Benoit. She also leaves a lasting legacy with a host of nieces, nephews, relatives and friends.
Sharon Benoit now reunites in her heavenly home with her parents
Charles Larry Guidry and Rosa Mae McKneely Guidry.
