Memorial Services will be held on Friday, August 1, 2014, at 1:00 PM in Delhomme Chapel of the Flowers in Lafayette, for William "Bill" Thomas, 77, who passed away on Monday, July 28, 2014 at his residence in Lafayette. Reverend Richard Humphries, Pastor of Asbury United Methodist Church in Lafayette, will conduct the funeral services. The family requests that visiting hours be observed in Delhomme Funeral Home on Bertrand from 11:00 AM until the time of service.
Bill worked in the oilfield industry for most of his life. He loved fishing, hunting, gardening and enjoyed spending time with his family. He was a true gentleman and one of the most honest people you would know. Bill will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved him.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Warren Larkin Thomas and Achsah Thomas; and one sister, Susan Ann Thomas.
He is survived by his wife of 56 years, Mello Motlow Thomas; two sons, William Thomas and Thomas Thomas; three grandchildren, Larkin, Collin and Leah Thomas; and his beloved dog, Blondie.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions can be made to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital, 262 Danny Thomas Place, Memphis, TN 38105.
