Marjorie Elaine Smith Allen Poe, formerly of Winnfield, passed away on July 11, 2012, in Shreveport, Louisiana. Born on May 19, 1917, in Winnfield, Elaine was a graduate of the University of Arkansas and deeply devoted to her family and ever faithful to her Savior, Jesus Christ.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Albert Lee Smith, Sr. and Ottice Barnes Smith; husband, Earl T. Wells, Jr.; husband, Harwell L. Allen; husband, William E. Poe; grandson, Chad Breese; and brothers, Leonard Smith and Albert Lee Smith, Jr.

Mrs. Poe is survived by three children: Mary Lynn Hopps and husband David, Yardley, Pennsylvania; Kay West and husband Jeff, Stuart, Florida; Douglas Allen and wife Marsha, Shreveport, Louisiana; Grandchildren: Mark Mallon and wife Laura Jean, New York City; Bradley Smith, Houston, Texas; Wells Smith, Houston, Texas; Laura Hopps, Managua, Nicaragua; Amanda Breese, Boca Raton, Florida; Rebecca Tate and husband Jeremy, Richland, Missouri; Matthew Allen and wife Jennifer, Bossier City, Louisiana; Peter Allen and wife Sarah, Bossier City, Louisiana; Great-Grandchildren: Chloe Mallon and Edie Allen.

Private graveside services will be held. A memorial service will be held at First Baptist Church, Blanchard, Louisiana, on August 4, 2012, at 11:00 a.m., with Dr. Douglas Allen officiating.

A special thanks to Ashley Bennett and Viola "Peaches" Chance who lovingly cared for her in the last months of her life.
