Jonathan Wayne Allen, 58, of Winnfield, LA passed away Monday, September 22, 2014, at his residence after a brief illness.

Jonathan was a 1974 graduate of Winnfield Senior High School and attended Northwestern State University. During high school he was a member of DeMolays. He graduated from Dallas Mortuary School in 1976 and was a licensed funeral director in Louisiana, Texas and California. Jonathan was an inactive member of Eastern Star Lodge No. 151 F&Am, a licensed Notary Public and real estate agent. He loved to fly and earned his private pilot’s license. Jonathan’s favorite sport was football. He was an avid supporter of both Alabama and NSU.

Jonathan was preceded in death by his father, D.C. Allen, Jr. Also preceding him in death were his maternal grandparents Lilburn and Juliette DeWolf and his paternal grandparents D.C. and Mary “Doc” Allen.

Jonathan leaves behind his son, Chad Stuart Allen and wife Kelly of West Monroe, LA, along with five grandchildren Mandilyn, Brayden, and Parker Allen and Kaytlin and Austin Whittlesey of West Monroe, LA. He also leaves behnd his mother, Elsie DeWolf Allen of Winnfield, LA, one sister, Barbie Grantadams and husband Herman of Winnfield, LA, nieces and nephews, Ryan Porter and wife Nicole of West Monroe, LA Kiah Porter and wife Holly of Gueydan, LA , Valerie Jordan and husband Brent and Jenna Porter of Winnfield, LA.

The family will receive friends Thursday, September 25, 2014 from noon until 2:00 p.m. Graveside services will be conducted at the Old Winnfield City Cemetery at 2:00 p.m. with the Rev. John Holland officiating.

Serving as pall bearers will be Ryan Porter, Herman Grantadams, Brent Jordan, Lee J. Taylor, Dan Taylor, and Bobby Poisso.
