Breaux Bridge - Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m., on Saturday, June 25, 2011, at St. Francis of Assisi Catholic Church in Breaux Bridge, for Joseph Jessie Alexander, 73, who passed away on Saturday, June 18, 2011 at his residence. Fr. Akalawu Ambrose will officiate at the funeral Mass. Scriptures will be read by KunKeisha Nicole Alexander. Gift Bearers will be Tyrese Martinez and Brianna Constantine. Interment will follow at St. Francis of Assisi Cemetery in Breaux Bridge.

Mr. Alexander was retired from O’Neal Steel, where he worked for many years as a crane operator. In his free time he enjoyed riding his motorcycle, going on trail rides, riding, training, and shoeing horses, and watching old westerns on television. One of his greatest pleasures was visiting with family and friends; he was known to tease family members and to be the 'Life of the party' who could bring laughter to everyone around him.

Survivors include his wife, Mary Eve Castille Alexander of Breaux Bridge; three sons, Milton Alexander (Bessie) of Lafayette, Harris Alexander of Breaux Bridge, and Clinton Logan of Lafayette; eight daughters, Consuella Smith (Donald), Gloria Amos (Vaughn), Veronica Flugence (John), Carmelita Zenon (Hilton), Mona Fontenette (Francis), all of Breaux Bridge, Jo Ann Constantine (Aaron), Tawana Martinez (Roderick), all of Lafayette, and Betsy Logan (Michael) of New Iberia; three sisters, Norma Jones of Houston, TX, Betty Gobar and Elizabeth Barber (Peter), all of Breaux Bridge; 52 grandchildren and 66 great grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Harris and Ethel Harris Alexander; a daughter, Judy Ann Alexander; a son, Sherman Alexander; a sister and brother-in-law, Thelma and Arthur Castille; and a host of uncles, aunts, a niece, and cousins.

The family requests that visiting hours be observed on Saturday from 7 a.m. until 10 a.m., with a recitation of the Rosary at 8 a.m.

Pallbearers will be Milton Norris Alexander, Anthony Alexander, John Alexander, Jamal Andrus, Jernaton Alexander, and Joshua Alexander.

Honorary pallbearers will be Milton Alexander, Harris Alexander, Dwayne Barber, Andrew Gobar, Michael Jones, Calvin Journet, Gerald Thomas, and Joseph Boston Goodie.

Pellerin Funeral Home of Breaux Bridge is in charge of arrangements.
