Lafayette - Funeral services will be held Saturday, January 23, 2016 at 10:00 a.m. at Immaculate Heart of Mary Catholic Church for Velma Theresa Francis, 78, who died January 10, 2016 at her home in Lafayette, LA.

Services will be conducted by Fr. Sebastian Myladiyil, SVD.

Interment will be in Calvary Cemetery.

She is survived by two sons, Joseph w. Francis and his wife, Rona Rixner Francis, Sidney Alfred and his wife, Beverly Ann Comeaux Alfred; six grandchildren, Andrea, Nichole, Hayward and Terrell Francis and Ronzoe and Zoecierre Alfred; six great grandchildren; her sisters, Rose Alfred, Dorothy Alfred, Marjorie Alfred Etienne, Lena Alfred Mouton; one brother, Wallace Alfred and his wife, Priscilla Hebert Alfred; her sister-in-law, Annabelle Prejean Alfred; her goddaughter, Shelley Mouton Ruffin; special friend, Gracie Simpson and a host of other nieces, nephews, other family members and friends.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Willie Francis; her long-time companion, Sidney Gus; her son, Howard Francis; her mother, Laura Andrus Alfred; her father, Whitney Alfred, Sr.; her brothers, Walter Alfred, Preston and wife, Georgia Damond Alfred, Paul and wife, Marcella Hebert Alfred, Whitney Alfred, Jr. and her sister, Helen Alfred.

Visitation will be held Saturday, January 23, 2016 at Immaculate Heart of Mary Catholic Church from 7:00 a.m. until time of service. A rosary will be recited at 9:00 a.m.
