Myrtle Lea Myers Carpenter, 93, passed away Wednesday, Feb. 10, 2010 at LSU Bogalusa Medical Center. She was a resident of Bogalusa.
She is survived by her children, Joyce Pope of McNeill, Miss.; Sam Carpenter of Jacksonville, Fla., Jewel Carpenter of West Monroe and Gene Carpenter of Slidell; her sister, Charlene Walters of Hattiesburg, Miss.; and numerous grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Sam Carpenter Sr.; her daughter, Helen Joan Morgan; her parents, Charles Everett Myers and Sarah Lea Myers Kyzar; her sisters, Carmon (John) Sanders, Hattie Mae (Van) Vanpram, Nettie Smith Davis, and one brother, Huey (Patty) Meyers.
She was laid to rest Saturday, Feb. 13 at 10 a.m. at Ponemah Cemetery, with Rev. Chad Jenkins officiating. Brown-McGehee Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.
