March 16, 1919 - December 18, 2007
George Kelley Penton, age 88, and a resident of Franklinton died Tuesday at Good Samaritan Nursing Home in Franklinton.
He was retired caretaker of the Washington Parish Fairgrounds and a deacon of Grace Missionary Baptist Church.
Survived by son, Roy Penton of Franklinton; grandchildren, Paul Penton, John (Angie) Penton, Gvorja (Bill) Busby, Tammy (Mickey) McCain, Angela Burch, Eric (Amber) Burch, Kay (Justin) Murrell, and Amanda (Matthew) Haley; 12 great-grandchildren; son-in-law, Jewell Burch of Mt. Hermon; two brothers, Ester Penton, and Milton Penton, both of Franklinton; three sisters, Christine Stricker, Ernestine Lawson, and Helen King, all of Franklinton.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Essie Moak Penton; daughter, Rachel P. Burch; son, Kelley Ray Penton; brothers Jewell Penton, Elton Penton, Buford Penton and Melvin Tullos; and sister Murle Crain.
