Baton Rouge Advocate 1-3-2003 JOHNSON, DENVA MYLES

A retired administrative assistant for Gulf Park Junior College for Women in Long Beach, Miss., and a resident of Baton Rouge, she died at 2:30 a.m. Thursday, Jan. 2, 2003, at Baton Rouge General Medical Center-Bluebonnet. She was 81, a native of Franklinton and a former longtime resident of Long Beach. She served along with her husband in the U.S. Army during World War II and was stationed at many bases around the world.

She is survived by a daughter, Nora Ott of Baton Rouge, and the beloved grandmother of Jennifer and Kristen Ott, both of Baton Rouge. She is also survived by two sisters and a brother-in-law, Sally M. and Ray Varnado of Franklinton and Carolyn M. Fletcher of Baton Rouge; a sister-in-law, Elsie Myles of Franklinton; and numerous nieces, nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews.

Preceded in death by her husband, Alvin E. Johnson; parents, Ambus and Effie Myles; and a brother, O.D. Myles.

Visitation at Crain Funeral Home chapel, Franklinton, from noon Saturday until funeral service at 2 p.m., with Dr. Rodney Wood officiating. Burial in Ellis Cemetery .

Pallbearers will be Lonny Myles, Scott Tullos, Bevan Myles, Chess Green, John Wood and Alvin Wood.
