Mr. Lee McBroom, 80, of the Laran Community, died Thursday in a local hospital following a lengthy illness. Funeral services will be held today at 10 a.m. at the Mt. Olive Baptist Church with the Rev. Otis Redden officiating. Burial will be in the Laran Cemetery under the direction of Kilpatrick Funeral Home of Farmerville, La. Mr. McBroom was a native of Union Parish and a member of Mt. Olive Baptist Church. Survivors include his widow, Mrs. Pinkie McBroom of Laran; and one sister, Mrs. Pearl West of Strong. Pallbearers will be Gene Perdue, Rex Cobb, Gene Pridgen, Julius Lockwood, LaJoy McBroom and Robert Lyons. Honorary pallbearers will be Lem Crawford, Alvin McCormick, John Seals and Minor Martindale.
