Mrs. Tessie Jean Evans, 72, passed away on Thursday, February 4, 2010, at her home after a lengthy illness. Visitation will be held from 6:00 until 8:00 p.m. on Friday, February 5, at Osborn Funeral Home. Funeral services will begin at 11:30 a.m. on Saturday, February 6, 2010 at Osborn Funeral Home. Officiating will be Chaplain Buck Furlow of Superior Hospice of Mansfield, LA and Chaplain Tucker of St. Joseph Hospice. Interment will follow at Forest Park Cemetery, St. Vincent.
Mrs. Evans was a native of W. Virginia and a resident of Shreveport, LA for 33 years. She was a member of First Baptist Bossier, Broadmoor Women’s Golf Association, Shreveport Women’s Golf Association, Westwood Ladies Golf Association and Shreveport Senior Women’s Golf Association. She was President of Westwood and Treasurer of Broadmoor Golf Association.
Mrs. Evans was preceded in death by her mother and father, Suzanne and James Luther Brewer; brother, Jessie Brewer and sister, Ruth Blankenship. She is survived by her husband of 51 years, John Evans of Shreveport; son, Mack Evans and wife, Suzi; two sisters, Mary Gilbert, of Texas and Sally Stout of Maryland; one brother, Clyde Brewer of Maryland; and several nieces and nephews.
Pallbearers will be Fred Bowlin, Bill Bowlin, David Denman, Greg Snelling, Ron Johnson and Dick Bush.
The family requests that memorials be made in lieu of flowers to St. Jude’s Hospital for Children, Memphis, TN or a charity of choice.
The family would like to express their sincere appreciation to Mary Gilbert, Charla Snelling, Nancy Powell, Dr. del Mundo and St. Joseph Hospice for their loving care and service and a special thanks to Aline McCarty for long time service.
