David Washington Cook

Mr. Cook was born August 16, 1923 in Mooringsport, Louisiana and passed from this earth early September 17, 2014. Graveside services at Mooringsport Memorial Gardens will be led by Pastor Roy Strother at 2:30 pm Thursday September 18, 2014 with the assistance of Gorsulowsky Funeral Home, Vivian, Louisiana.

Mr. Cook was raised in Mooringsport and at age 17 joined the United States Navy from which he was retired. Mr. Cook also worked for the Compton, California School District from which he was also retired.

Mr. Cook was preceded in death by his first wife Amelia Cook of Campbell, California and his second wife Flo Nell Harrison-Cook of Mooringsport, and his late step-daughter Pam Harrison-Clay.

Mr. Cook is survived by his sister Betty H. Williamson of Shreveport, Louisiana, his nephew Robert L. Williamson and wife Sandra of Shreveport, his niece Judy W. Walker and husband Bill of Hughes Springs, Texas. Mr. Cook is also survived by his step-son Bob Harrison of Texarkana, Arkansas, as well as several nieces and nephews and other extended family. Also surviving him is his devoted lifelong friend Earl Holliman of Los Angeles, California.

Mr. Cook was a member of Mooringsport Baptist Church and a volunteer for the town of Mooringsport.

In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made to Grace Home in Shreveport, Louisiana.
