Mr. May was born on November 22, 1931 in Smithdale, MS and died on July 20, 2019 following a one car accident south of his Dubach residence. Milton was a longtime member of Fellowship Baptist Church in Dubach. Paw Man as he was known by his family and friends, will truly be missed. He is preceded in death by his wife, Peggy Pearson May, parents, Thomas Claiborne May and Lillian Jane HAlford May and his grandson, John Joseph May. Milton is survived by children, Charles Milton May, Jr. and wife Angel; Jennie M. Cole and husband John and Christopher Wade May, grandchildren, William Chase May, Corey Wade May and wife Jill, Charles Caleb Rhea, Joshua C. Cole, Jordan D. Cole, Evan Wade May, Eli Charles May; and great grandchildren Emma and Cash May and a host of wonderful friends and loved ones.Milton graduated from Mars Hill High School in 1949, threw down his hoe in the family cotton field, and caught a ride to Shreveport to join up with his uncles who had acquired jobs in the oil field around Shreveport. He landed a job with Arkla Gas in the mail room, and after his talent as a pitcher for fast pitch softball was discovered,United Gas Pipeline hired him away from Arkla Gas for 25 cents more per hour. Milton stayed with United Gas for another 41 years before retiring in Dubach as Area Superintendent for the North Central Louisiana area. He enjoyed his retirement for the next 28 years hunting and fishing and by helping young hunters with hunting tips and sighting in of their rifles in his backyard. Later years brought enjoyment playing dominoes at the Dubach senior center with his friends. Our family has received hundreds of emails and texts over the last 24 hours showing deep concern for our loss and a mutual love for our dad. These all have been a great source of comfort to the family and to quote one of the texts, Tyler Breed wrote I am so sad to hear about Paw Man. He was a literal North Louisiana Legend as far as killing deer and squirrels. I will miss him a lot. The great news is that he is reunited with your mother and his parents and they are probably frying deer steak right now! Love yall. Thank you all for the words of encouragement. Pallbearers will be Byron Williams, William Fuller, Barry Bagwell, Shawn Bagwell, James Colvin, Bo Roberts, Luke Lewis, and George Seacrist. A special thank you is extended to his wonderful friends, Donald Wayne Colvin and Henry Watts, who looked in on and cared for our dad daily. Memorials may be made to Fellowship Baptist Church Dubach, LA or to the youth hunting program with the LA Dept of Wildlife and Fisheries. Visitation will be 5:00 7:00 P.M.
