Susan was born August 13, 1939 to Sally and Gene Quinn in Fort Wayne, IN and passed away August 27, 2022 at 11:37 PM in Arcadia, LA. Her family later moved to Tri Lakes, IN, where Susan was an avid swimmer and an ice skater. Susan married Ben Simmers, and, together, they had four children: Wendy, Tammy, Scott, and Jennifer. In 1971, they moved to Cheboygan, MI and later transferred to Cairo, GA and then finally moved to Ruston, LA in 1974. Susan and Ben divorced in 1976, and she later married Eron M. Cooper, who took her to Baton Rouge, LA for the next twenty plus years. When her husband, Eron, retired from Exxon Plastics, they returned to his hometown of Dubach, LA. Susan was a homemaker for most of her adult life. She enjoyed the friendships of many throughout her life, and many of her children’s friends found solace in her support and her guidance. Susan was loved by her husband, Eron, for 44 years. Her children loved her deeply, and her grandchildren adored her for her ornery, silly ways. She will forever be missed by all who knew and loved her. Susan was preceded in death by her parents; two sisters: Julie Kissinger and Dawn Shannon; granddaughters, Emily Simmers and Chaney Willow Simmers; step-daughter, Robin Pardee; and daughter-in-law, Toby Cooper.

Susan is survived by her husband, Eron Cooper of Dubach, LA; three daughters: Wendy Simmers of College Station, TX, Tammy Simmers of Ruston, LA, and Jennifer Cockerham of Lillie, LA; son, Scott Simmers of Baton Rouge, LA; step-son, Eric Cooper of Dubach, LA; grandchildren: Rachel Pust, Heather and husband, Shane Hazlett, Justin Juul, Taylor Simmers, Candice and husband, Christopher Baron, Jessie Shelton and wife, Victoria, Ethan Simmers and wife, Adara, Faith Cooper, and Zachary Parnell; several great-grandchildren; brother, Gene Quinn and wife, Karen, of Fort Wayne, IN; and a host of family and friends.

Serving as pallbearers will be Gene Quinn, Scott Simmers, John Ammons, Jessie Shelton, Ethan Simmers, and John Sawyer.

Visitation will be 1:00-2:00 PM, Friday, September 2, 2022 at Owens Memorial Chapel Funeral Home.
