Samuel Lee Davis went to be with his Lord on August 28, 2021 following a lengthy illness. Sam was born to Lee and Ola Davis on January 8, 1935 in Shreveport, Louisiana. His younger years he lived in Oil City, La, and then moved to Shreveport after the death of his father.


Sometime @ 1959, he met the love of his life, Julia Ann White at church and they married March 11, 1960. He and Ann moved to Lake Charles, La soon after, moved back to Shreveport and eventually settled in Houston TX in 1962.


Sam was a faithful and loyal servant to his God and longtime member of Sagemont Church, where he served as an Usher, Deacon, Sunday School Teacher, Sound Technician, Prop Builder and ‘Helping Hands” member. Sam was a long-time member of the Sheet Metal Workers’ International Association and worked on a number of iconic buildings throughout Houston.


Sam was a loving husband, father and grandfather. He coached baseball, chaperoned Boy Scout campouts, attended football games, built tool boxes and assisting in building video machines and anything else his grandkids asked him to build. Sam enjoyed camping, fishing, hunting and most of all, working in his shop. He loved big band and classic country music. He proudly told everybody when they asked his birthday “Me and Elvis were born on the same day”


Sam is preceded in death by his parents, brothers, John, Bob, Willie, Leon and Ernest Davis, and sisters, Maxine Stoelting, Helen Smith, Emma Joe Davis and Virginia Davis (his twin sister)


Surviving Sam is; Ann, his wife of 62 years, and son; Doug and wife Gay. Grandchildren Chris Laski & Stuart Davis, Drew and Mitch Coxie, along with numerous nieces, nephews and a host of friends.


The service honoring Sam’s life will be at 10:00am Friday, September 3, 2021, at Peevey Funeral Home, with visitation one hour prior to the service. A Graveside service will be held at 11:00am., Saturday, September 4, 2021 at Fellowship Baptist Cemetery in Dubach, Louisiana.


A huge thank you to the people at Divine Comfort Home Care and Proverbial Care for the excellent and loving care they gave Sam in his last weeks and days.
