Mr. David E. “Mac” McAllister, Sr., 74, passed away on Tuesday, April 13, 2010, at LSU Medical Center after a brief illness. Visitation will be held from 5:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. on Thursday, April 15, 2010, at Osborn Funeral Home on Southern Avenue. Funeral services will begin at 2:00 p.m. on Friday, April 16, 2010, at North Highlands United Methodist Church. Officiating will be Reverend Jean Foreman-Sanders, Pastor of North Highlands United Methodist Church. Interment will follow at Forest Park West Cemetery.
Mr. McAllister was a native of Rapid City, South Dakota and a resident of Mooringsport, Louisiana for many years. He was a U. S. Army Veteran of the Korean conflict and a member of North Highlands United Methodist Church. He retired after more than 30-years of service at KCS railroad and enjoyed many hobbies during his retirement. In particular, he was an enthusiastic member of the Sharks RC club.
Mr. McAllister was preceded in death by parents, Archibald and Gladys; and brothers, Robert, Don, and Stanley. He is survived by his wife of 53 years, Elsie; daughters, Judith Custer and husband, Don and Cheryl Barfield; son, David McAllister, Jr. and wife, Shannon; grandchildren, Bob Miller, Kristin Dougherty and husband, Billy, Heather Barfield, Kelsey McAllister, Rebecca Barfield and Eric McAllister.
Pallbearers will be David McAllister, Jr., Don Custer, Bob Miller and Billy Dougherty.
