Keithville, LA William Polk Cornelius, 86, went to be with his Lord, Sunday, August 12, at his home with his family around him, after a brief illness.

Visitation with the family will be Monday, August 13, 2012 at 5 PM until 7 PM at Boone Funeral Home, Shreveport, LA.

The funeral service will be held Tuesday, August 14, 2012 at 10:30 AM at the funeral home. Officiating will be Rev. Freddie Williford. Interment will follow at Forest Park West Cemetery.

Mr. Cornelius was a graduate of Byrd High School and served in the Navy 1943 to 1945 as a Radioman 3rd Class and a Gunner. He was a member of Grawood Baptist Church, the Masonic Lodge, VFW and the American Legion. He was an avid fisherman and hunter.

Preceding Mr. Cornelius in death was his parents, Minnie Mae and Daniel Webster Cornelius; a sister, Mary Jo Cherry and a brother, Webb Cornelius, Jr.

He is survived by his loving wife of 37 years, Roma Cornelius, his children, William Cornelius, Jr., Lynette Peterson, Carolyn Campbell, Curtis Prothro, Carl Prothro, Jennifer Prothro Bass, Douglas Prothro, Brenda Morgan, Ronald Morgan, Tommy Morgan and Kathy Morgan McCann; Numerous Grand Children and great-grandchildren; a sister, Wanda Casciola and many other relatives and friends.
