LAFAYETTE - Funeral services will be held on Tuesday, May 31, 2011 at a 10:00 AM Mass of Christian Burial in La Chapelle de Martin & Castille for James Merrick Hebert, 59, who passed away peacefully on Tuesday, May 24, 2011 at Summa Akron City Hospital in Akron, Ohio of a cerebral hemorrhage. Interment will be in Greenlawn Memorial Gardens Cemetery.

Reverend Thomas Habetz, Associate Pastor of St. Genevieve Catholic Church, will be the Celebrant of the funeral Mass and will conduct the funeral services. Marc and Adam Conque will sing for the service.

Survivors include his wife, Veronica Hebert of Cuyahoga Falls, OH; one daughter, Kristin Ryckman of Tacoma, WA; two sons, Ross Hebert of Las Vegas, NV and Brandon Hebert of New Orleans, LA; his mother, Nettie Stewart of Scott, LA; his step-father Richard Ardoin of Arnaudville, LA; one sister, Lisa Andrus of Broussard, LA; two brothers, Kirk Hebert of Lafayette, LA and Michael Hebert of Arnaudville, LA; and two grandchildren, Noah James Hebert of Las Vegas, NV and Alyssa Marie Ryckman of Tacoma, WA. He is also survived by his best canine friends, Coco and Jacques.

He was preceded in death by his father, Allen Hebert.

A native of Lafayette, Louisiana and resident of Cuyohoga Falls, Ohio for the last two years. Mr. Hebert was a loving husband, father, grandfather, son, brother and friend to all who knew him. He was a graduate of West Jefferson High School in Harvey, LA, but was a honorary graduate of Northside High School in Lafayette, LA. He attended USL for 2 years and was a finance manager at Moss Motors for several years. Merrick also was the owner of a construction clean up business in Las Vegas, NV, until he retired. He was a life member and Governor of the Sertoma Club and also served as a 4th Degree Knight. He enjoyed playing golf, playing video poker at the casino and cooking for his family and friends. He had a great sense of humor and taught everyone to take life not too seriously. He will be dearly missed by all who knew and loved him.

Pallbearers will be Ross Hebert, Brandon Hebert, Kirk Hebert, Mike Hebert, Jonathan Hebert and Ricky Norris. Honorary Pallbearers will be Leland Hebert, Richard Ardoin, Ken Thibodeaux, Roger Cook, Larry Leger and Chelie Barnes.

A Rosary will be recited on Monday, May 30, 2011 at 6:00 PM in Martin & Castille's DOWNTOWN Location.

The family requests that visitation be observed on Monday from 3:00 PM to 9:00 PM and will continue on Tuesday from 8:00 AM until time of services.

In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the family for a memorial in his name.
