Funeral services will be held on Monday, April 5, 2010, at 10:00 AM in La Chapelle de Martin & Castille in Lafayette, for Christopher Wyatt Cornay, 58, who passed away peacefully on Monday, March 29, 2010 at Hospice Austin's Christopher House in Austin, Texas. Entombment will be in Greenlawn Memorial Gardens Mausoleum. Deacon Tim Maragos will conduct the funeral services. Survivors include two daughters, Jolie Cornay of Denham Springs, LA and Laurie Lea Cornay of Austin, TX; father, Howard J. Cornay, Jr. of Lafayette; three sisters, Leslie Davis and her husband Michael, Camille Simpson and her husband Gregory and Marcelle Foret and her husband Dr. John Foret, all of Lafayette; and two brothers, Howard J. Cornay, III of Cade, LA and Steven Cornay and his wife Kathy of Lafayette. He was also survived by friend, Teresa Stafford and Matthew Wisdom, both of Denham Springs, LA.He was preceded in death by his son, Alan J. Cornay; mother, Vera June Foster Cornay; one nephew, Steven Zachary Cornay; grandparents, Howard and Louise Cornay and O.Q. and Annetta Foster; and beloved friend, Tammy Renee Deck-Cornay.Christopher Cornay was born on June 28, 1951 in Lake Charles, Louisiana and was a resident of Cedar Park, Texas. He was a gifted songwriter and played the piano, guitar, saxophone and harmonica throughout his life. He readily shared his love of music with others. Chris had the unique gift of writing beautiful letters to friends and family, keeping them abreast of his travels across the United States. He worked for twenty-five years as a Mud Logger and most recently for Toledo Mud Logging.Chris spent the last eight years enjoying life in Cedar Park, Texas. He was surrounded by peaceful scenic Texas prairie view and wildlife. Chris will be greatly missed by all who knew him.Pallbearers will be Michael Davis Sr., Michael Davis Jr., Dr. John Foret, Gregory Simpson, Jeremy Foret, Matthew Wisdom and Steve Cornay.The family requests that visitation be observed in Martin & Castille's Downtown Lafayette location on Monday, April 5, 2010 from 8:00 AM until time of service. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions can be made in Mr. Cornay's name to Hospice Austin's Christopher House, 4107 Spicewood Spring, Suite 100, Austin, Texas 78759.
