BROUSSARD - A Memorial Mass will be held on Thursday, December 15, 2011, at 10:00 AM in La Chapelle de Martin & Castille in Lafayette, for Howard J. Cornay, III, 62, who passed away on Monday, December 12, 2011 at his residence near Cade.
Reverend Monsignor Charles Mallet, will be the Celebrant of the Memorial Mass and will conduct the memorial service. Lectors will be Leslie Davis and Dr. John Foret. Karen Broussard, organist and soloist, will sing "How Great Thou Art", "Amazing Grace", "Prayer of St. Francis", "Psalm 23" and "Sweet By and By" for the services.
Survivors include his father, Howard J. Cornay, Jr. of Lafayette; three sisters, Leslie Davis and her husband Michael, Camille Simpson and her husband Gregory and Marcelle Foret and her husband Dr. John Foret, all of Lafayette; one brother, Steven Cornay and his wife Kathy of Lafayette; and numerous nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his mother, Vera June Foster Cornay; brother, Christopher; and grandparents, Howard and Louise Cornay and O.Q. and Annetta Foster.
Howard Cornay, III was born on November 27, 1949 in Lake Charles, LA to parents, Howard J. Cornay, Jr. and Vera June Cornay. He graduated from Cathedral Carmel High School in Lafayette and attended USL (now ULL), studying industrial arts. Howard had an interest in mechanical objects and attended a leading guitar construction and design school in Arizona, having built a classic guitar which he treasured. He enjoyed playing the guitar and lead a quiet life with respect for God. Howard will be greatly missed by his family, friends and all who knew and loved him.
Honorary Pallbearers will be Dr. John Foret, Greg Simpson, Mike Davis, Sr., Steve Cornay, Michael Davis, Jr. and Jeremy Foret.
The family requests that visitation be observed in Martin & Castille's DOWNTOWN Lafayette location on Thursday, December 15, 2011 from 9:00 AM until time of service.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorial contributions be made in Howard J. Cornay III's name and mailed to: De La Salle Christian Brothers, Attn: Jeri Thibodeaux, 1522 Carmel Dr., Lafayette, LA 70501 (Please make the checks out to St. La Salle Auxillary).
