CARENCRO - Funeral services will be held Tuesday, March 10, 2015 at a 2:00 pm Liturgy of the Word in Evangeline Memorial Gardens Chapel in Carencro for Lydia Babineaux, age 91, the former Lydia Abraham, who passed away Sunday, March 8, 2015 at 7:03 am at Evangeline Oaks Guest House in Carencro. Interment will be in Greenlawn Memorial Gardens in Lafayette. The Rev Bill Melancon, pastor of Our Lady of Lourdes Roman Catholic Church in Erath, will officiate at the services.

Musical selections will be provided by Valerie Andrus. The songs will be Old Rugged Cross, A Closer Walk With Thee and Amazing Grace.

Ms Babineaux was a native of Lecompte and a resident of Carencro for the past 73 years. She retired from the Lafayette Parish School Board as a cafeteria technician. Prior to her retirement, she took care of the elderly for 20 years. Ms Babineaux was a parishioner of St Peter's Roman Catholic Church and was a member of Bonne Mort Society, St Anne Society, Ladies Altar Society, Sacred Heart League and St Jude Society.

Survivors include daughter Juanita Dalfrey of Carencro; grandchildren Dyke Dalfrey, Corey Dalfrey, Heidi Dalfrey Wagnon, Joey Babineaux and Megan Babineaux; numerous great grandchildren and brother George Abraham of Lafayette.

She was preceded in death by parents Thomas Abraham and former Mary Leger; husband Joseph E Babineaux, son Tony Babineaux and brother Cornelius "Pete" Abraham.

A rosary will be prayed at 7:00 p. Monday in the funeral home.

The family requests that visiting hours be observed from 1:00 pm until 9:00 pm Monday and will continue from 9:00 am until service time on Tuesday.
