CARENCRO - Memorial services will be held Monday, February 1, 2016 at a 10:30 am Mass of Christian Burial in Evangeline Memorial Gardens Chapel in Carencro for Craig James Babineaux, age 51, who passed away Thursday, January 28, 2016 at his residence in Cankton.
The Very Rev Msgr Russell J Harrington, VE, pastor of St John Berchmans Catholic Church, will officiate at the services.
Musical selections will be provided by Julie Broussard and Phyllis Simar on the organ. The songs will be Amazing Grace, Just A Closer Walk With Thee, One Bread, One Body, On Eagle's Wings, Isaiah 49 and Go Rest High On That Mountain.
Mr Babineaux was a native and lifelong resident of Cankton. He was formerly employed with Gulf South Printing in Lafayette for over thirty years. He enjoyed music, playing drums and was a skilled carpenter.
Survivors include daughter Jessica Babineaux and fiancé Lance Guillotte of New Iberia; parents Marcel John Babineaux and the former Betty Lavergne; sisters Nina Claire Bearb and husband Dion and Monique B Braquet and husband Jared, all of Carencro; nieces and godchildren Beth Bearb and Kasey Delcambre; nephews Derek Savant and wife, Brittany, Jude Braquet and Jase Braquet and great-niece, Raegan Savant.
He was preceded in death by paternal grandparents Alcee Babineaux and the former Bernadette Hernandez both natives of Cankton; and maternal grandparents, Saul Lavergne and the former Aline Jagneaux both natives of Lewisburg.
A rosary will be prayed at 7:00 pm Sunday in the funeral home.
The family requests that visiting hours be observed from 4:00 pm until 9:00 pm Sunday and will continue from 8:00 am until service time Monday.
Honorary pallbearers will be Derek Savant, Dion Bearb, Jared Braquet, Karl Babineaux, Lance Guillotte, Dale Prejean and Ronnie Myers.
Melancon Funeral Home, Evangeline Memorial Gardens Chapel, 4117 N University Ave, Carencro, (337) 896-3232, is in charge of arrangements.
