Lafayette: A Homegoing Mass will be held at 10:00am at Our Lady Queen of Peace Church Wednesday, August 26, 2020, followed by interment at Calvary Cemetery.

Orell Paul Daigle, Sr, 84, departed this life Wednesday, August 19, 2020 surrounded by loving and attentive family members. As a long-time native of Lafayette, Louisiana, he lived with his family in the community as a member of Our Lady Queen of Peace Catholic Church, where he served faithfully.

After working as a delivery man for over twenty-five years, he continued to stay active working in various occupations. Orell Sr spent most of his semi-retired time educating himself, working in the community as a school crossing guard, a commission of election for his assigned precinct, and as a member of the Knights of Peter Claver. He also spent significant time at his “2nd office” at the Lafayette Parish Library where he loved to pursue his lifetime passion of Genealogical Research and discovery.

He was preceded in death by parents, Lawrence and Eva (Doucet) Daigle; first wife, Altha M (Johnson) Daigle; sister Dorothy Givens and brothers Lawrence Daigle, Roy Daigle and Elmo Daigle Sr; children Kenneth Simpson and Evella Simpson.

He leaves cherished memories and is survived by wife Ella (Simpson) Daigle; brother Fred (Margaret) Daigle Sr of Lafayette; sisters Shirley (Alex) Johnson of Compton, Calafornia, Sr Richard Francis (Rita) Daigle SSF of New Orleans, Nancy Andres and Eva Marie (Alvin) Jones both of Lafayette; sons Orell (Jane) Daigle Jr, Ronald (Viola) Daigle Sr, Christopher (Tammy) Daigle, Richard (Kellye) Daigle, Casey (Faye) Simpson and Curley (Cynthia) Simpson; daughters Sharon Daigle and Vicky Simpson; and a host of nieces, nephews, grandchildren, and great grandchildren.

Visitation will be 8:00 am to 9:45 am at Kinchen Funeral Home Wednesday, August 26, 2020.
