A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11 o'clock a.m. on Saturday, May 4th, 2013 at St. Anthony Catholic Church for Chester Joseph Clay, 52, who passed away Sunday, April 28th 2013 at home peacefully with his family at his side. Interment will be held at Calvary Cemetery. Father Mike Sucharski, SVD, will officiate.
Chester graduated from Carencro High School with a scholarship to Panhandle State University. He is survived by three sons, Umberto, Derrick and Andrew Cantu and their mother Ruby Cantu of San Angelo, TX, three brothers, Lawrence Clay of Oklahoma City, OK, Harold Clay of Lafayette, LA and Horace Clay of Carencro, LA, eight sisters, Buenice Sinegal of Mid West City, OK, Marie Elaine Simpson of Houston, TX, Beatrice Clay of Cecilia, LA, Mary Louanna Bruno, Genevieve Amune, Linda Cormier, Barbara Ann Andrus, and Mary Brenella Nero, all of Lafayette, LA and a host of nieces, nephews, relatives and friends.
His parents, Clarence and Mary Enola Henry Clay, sister Verlie Clay and nephew Jacoby Andrus preceded him in death.
Visitation will be observed from 7 o'clock am until 10:30 am at Kinchen Funeral Home. A rosary will be recited at 9 o'clock a.m.
The family sends a special thanks to Dr. Morris Hauffpauir and Jolane Doucet and staff.
In lieu of flowers, contributions can be made in memory of Chester to Hospice of Acadiana, 2600 Johnston Street, Ste 200, Lafayette, LA 70503 could be made to Hospice of Acadiana
Kinchen Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements.
