FRANKLINTON - Hillary S. Sumrall, age 88, a resident of Pine, died at 6:50 a.m. on Saturday, Oct. 21 in Riverside Medical Center. Born July 11, 1918, he was retired from Crown Zellerbach Corp., was a member and deacon at Forest Haven Missionary Baptist Church.
He is survivors by his wife, Chinesey Sumrall of Pine; step-children, Gayle and Eld. Clyde Cooper of Pine, Jimmy and Faye Branch of Bogalusa, Sandra Strahan and Pat and Cathy Branch, all of Pine; a brother and sister-in-law, Jessie and Golda Sumrall of Pine; two sisters-in-law, Dorothy Sumrall and Zelma Sumrall, both of Franklinton; 11 grandchildren and numerous great-grandchildren; and a number of nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his first wife, Emmazell Reviere Sumrall; three brothers, Willie, Wayne and Jewell Sumrall and two sisters, Tera Luper and Lela Luper.
Visitation was held at Crain Funeral Home from 6 to 9 p.m. on Sunday, Oct. 22, continuing after 9 a.m. on Monday, Oct. 23. The funeral service followed at 2 p.m. in the funeral home chapel with Eld. Richard Magee, Eld. Clyde Cooper and Eld. Ted Phillips officiating. Interment was in the Poplarhead Church Cemetery. Pallbearers included Darryl Cooper, Keith Branch, Michael Strahan, Chad Luper, Damon Luper and Jesse Sumrall.
