Jabus Tillman Pittman, lifelong resident of Bogalusa, passed away at Harvest Manor, Denham Springs, on Wednesday, Aug. 31, 2011.
Born March 22, 1924, he was 87 years old. He was a machinist with more than 30 years of service and retired from Crown Zellerbach. He was a U. S. Navy veteran of World War II, 50-year member of the Masonic Lodge (Bogalusa), member of American Legion Post 24 and a longtime member of Elizabeth Sullivan Memorial United Methodist Church.
Survivors include his nieces, Jean (Warren) Gurkin, Theresa (Ernest) Zeller and Ladonna (Gerald) Smith; nephews, Thomas D. (Susan) Pittman, Dan Ray (Lynn) Pittman and Glenn W. Pittman.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Mamie Lou "Cotton" McDaniel Pittman; son, Charles Daniel Pittman; father and mother, Needham Daniel and Rosa Owens Pittman; brothers, Dan Kelly, Thomas Doyle and William Louis Pittman; sisters, Imogene Faucheaux and Pauline Pittman.
Visitation was held on Thursday, Sept. 1 at Poole-Ritchie Funeral Home from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m. Visitation resumes on Friday, from 9 a.m. until time for religious services at 11 a.m., with Rev. Tom Dolph officiating. Burial will follow at Ponemah Cemetery.
