Silver Star Medal with 2 Oak Leaf Clusters
Robert Charles Boutwell, age 88, a WWII Veteran of the U.S. Army and a resident of Bogalusa, passed away on July 7, 2009 at the Louisiana Heart Hospital in Lacombe, Louisiana.
He is survived by his wife, Lucille Kennedy Boutwell of Bogalusa, Louisiana and two sons, James W Strahan, I and wife Shari of Bogalusa and Robert Wayne Boutwell also of Bogalusa, sisters, June Loveless of Poplarville, Mississippi and Clara Davis of Denham Springs, Louisiana, brothers, Mike Boutwell of Lafayette and Ben Wilson "BW" Boutwell of Barkers Corner, grandchildren, James W. Strahan II, Tara Marie Strahan and Ryan Rester, great grandchildren, T. Christopher Strahan and James W. Strahan III and numerous nieces and nephews.
He is preceded in death by his parents, Homer Boutwell, Sr and Jessie Gertude "Trudy" Day Boutwell, sisters, Pearl Lazelle Brumfield, Bobbie Gertrude Jones and Dorothy "Dot" Cutrer, brothers, Herbert Boutwell,Sr, Homer "Junior" Boutwell, Jr and William Dean "Billy" Boutwell.
He was awarded three Silver Star Medals for his actions in the Battle of Peleliu during World War II.
