John Haltom Hogue, 55, of New London died unexpectedly at his home Wednesday at 4:30 p.m. Mr. Hogue was born in Union County July 30, 1909, the son of Thomas B. and Hattie Telford Hogue. He had lived in Union County his entire life and was a former employe of the Columbia Carbon Co. He was a Baptist. Survivors include his widow, Minnie Lu Coleman Hogue of New London; one daughter, Mrs. Coy Griffin of El Dorado; two sons, Wayne Hogue and Winfred Hogue, both of El Dorado; five sisters, Mrs. Myrtle Latham of Camden, Mrs. Clara Poole of New London, Mrs. Hazel Stephens of El Dorado, Mrs. Margaret Eason of Davenport, Iowa, and Mrs. Edith Moore of Smackover; two brothers, Wilson Hogue and Clarence Hogue, both of El Dorado; and six grandchildren. Funeral services have been announced for Friday at 2 p.m. at Southside Baptist Church with the Rev. Junior Watson officiating, assisted by the Rev. Melvin Childers. Burial will be in Brantley Cemetery under the direction of Rumph Mortuary. Pallbearers will be Melvin Poole, Robert Poole, Bill Smith, Earl Smith, Max Hogue, Gene Montgomery and Willard Gilmore. The body was taken to the home of Mrs. Coy Griffin, 1105 S. Washington Thursday afternoon. (The El Dorado Times - December 3, 1964)
