Dorothy Duck, 85, of Sarepta, LA died Tuesday, November 25, 2014 at her home.
She was born March 3, 1929 in Hodge, LA to the late Willie Houston and Evelyn Vola (Smith) Jordan. She was of the Pentecostal faith, the last living charter member of Porterville Church of God, and always faithful to her Lord and family. Dorothy was known as “a sweet angel on earth” and always had a smile on her face. She loved her children unconditionally and enjoyed her children, Bible, and sitting on her front porch.
Dorothy is preceded in death by her parents; her husband Robert Edwin Duck; sons Steve Allen Duck and John Duck; daughters Vicky Lyn Brown and Nancy Watts; and sister Patsy Jean Hall.
She is survived by her daughters Billie Fish and husband Donald, Sarah Ratliff and husband Gerald, Gail Smith and husband
Bubba, and Lori Caskey all of Sarepta; sons Bobby “Tank” Duck and Jerry Jordan both of Sarepta; sisters Juanita Peterson and Margie Caskey and husband Wayne all of Goldonna; brother Herman Calhoun and wife Francis of Virgina; 21 grandchildren; 23 great grandchildren; 3 great-great grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be held at 1PM on Friday, November 28th at the Lewis Funeral Home Chapel with Chaplin Buster Bailey officiating. Burial will follow at the Old Sarepta Cemetery under the direction of Lewis Funeral Home, Inc. of Springhill Visitation will be held Friday from 10AM to 1PM at the funeral home.
Pallbearers will be Donnie Barnard, Jim Carter, Ryan Hickman, Bubba Fish, Jordan Brown, and Jason Ratliff. Honorary pallbearers will be Gerald Ratliff, Forrest Ratliff, Donald Fish, Tommy Brewton, Jimmy Carter, and Doyle Vowell.
The family would like to extend a special thanks to the Gamble Hospice for their care and compassion
