William Martin Dock Brittain Sr. age 83 of Mooringsport, LA passed away Thursday August 7, 2008 at his home. Funeral services will be held Saturday August 9, 2008 at 10 a.m. at the Mooringsport Baptist Church officiated by Rev. Johnie Adkins, assisted by Rev. Kevin Taylor. The family will receive friends for a visitation on Friday August 8, 2008 from 6-8 p.m. at Gorsulowsky Funeral Home in Vivian, LA. Dock was raised on a farm, the baby of 10 kids. He joined the Navy in 1943 at the age of 17, serving in the south pacific during WWII as an Electricians Mate 2nd Class aboard LCT 1056 and the USS Iowa. He made his home in North Caddo Parish where he lived most of his life. He was a member of the Mooringsport Baptist Church where he served as a Deacon. He was saved at 27 " put his hands to the plow and never looked back. Dock sang in the choir from age 27-83 and he was a Sunday school director for 35 years. He loved and always supported the young people and kids in the church. He was characterized by honesty and kindness and his life was a testimony to how much he loved the Lord, his family and friends. He was an avid hunter and a life long sportsman. Dock was a past master mason. Dock is survived by his wife; Rusty G. Brittain of Mooringsport, LA: his daughter; Toni McMillan and husband Rick of Vivian, LA: his sons; Marty Brittain and wife Patsy, Charley Brittain and wife Vicki, Bradley Brittain and wife Vickie all of Shreveport, LA and Tracy Brittain of Avenger, TX: 8 grandchildren, 8 great-grandchildren: his sister Clara Andeburg of Oklahoma City, OK and numerous nieces and nephews. Pallbearers will be Sidney Moran, Eugene Tunstall, Mike Moore, Kevin Steward, Mike Ebarb and Dave Womack.
