Jacob C. Bryant, 82, of Spearsville, La., died Sunday night in a Bernice, La. hospital. He was a lifelong resident of Union Parish, La. Survivors include his widow, Mrs. Minnie Bryant of Spearsville; two daughters, Mrs. Lois Martindale of Spearsville and Mrs. Maurice Oliver of Sterlington, La.; two sons, Kermit Bryant of Arkadelphia, and J. C. Bryant of Spearsville; four sisters, Mrs. Eva Burnside of Truxno, La., Mrs. Tidie Taylor of Spearsville, Mrs. Irene Gilbert of Urbana, and Mrs. Pearl McKnight of Smackover. Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Tuesday at the Mt. Olive Baptist Church near Laran, La. Burial will be in Laran Cemetery under the direction of Bailey Funeral Home. The body was taken to the Bryant home, Rt. 1, Spearsville, Monday afternoon where it will remain until one hour prior to service time. (El Dorado Times - December 29, 1969)
