Shreveport, La.- Mrs. Sarah Mercer Sample, 81, died at home on Tuesday, December 26, 1989 after a brief illness. Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m., Thursday, in the chapel of St. Mark's Episcopal Church. Officiating will be The Right Reverend Willis R. Henton, Bishop of the Diocese of Western Louisiana. She is survived by her husband, Oliver H. P. Sampe; one daughter, Virginia Sample Yeatts and her husband, Alfred Hunter Yeatts, Jr of Shreveport; three grandchildren, Sarah Yeatts Gormley, and her husband, Lt. E. T. Gormley of Germany, Alfred Hunter Yeatts, III and Oliver Sample Yeatts of Shreveport, La; and one niece, Tony West of New Orleans, La. Pallbearers will be Col. Winston Moore, Lt. Col. Robert Webb, Jim Nichols, Tom Bullock, Chris Hamel, Steve Glassell and James K. Cunningham. Honorary pallbearers will be Norman Winterton, Sr., Pat H. Miller, Hughes Jordan, Jack Lowery, Julian Gallaspy, Green Rives, Jr., Claude Roberts, Jr. and Emile DeArms. The family request that memorials be made to the Shriners Hospital for the Crippled Children or the charity of their choice. (The Times - December 28, 1989 - Shreveport, La.)
