February 8, 1921 - February 23, 1991
Son of Little Calhoun Allen and Lel Goodwin. He was the mayor of Shreveport, Louisiana for two terms from 1970 to 1978. Mr. Allen served in the US Navy from 1943 to 1946 in World War II and from 1950 to 1954 in the Korean War. He retired with the rank of Captain with 32 years of service. He was married twice, first to Mary Miller in 1948 and after Mary's death, he married Jacqueline Spell Schober. He was a strong civic leader, a commissioner of the Louisiana Superdome in New Orleans and a member of the Louisiana State Fair Board. He was vice president of the Red River Valley Association.
