Funeral service for William Houston Boyt will be held at 10:00 am on Wednesday, June 5, 2013 at Blanchard - St. Denis Funeral Home in Natchitoches, LA with Rev. Dennis Bjourberg, Rev J.D. McNeal, and Rev. Doug Lee officiating. Interment will follow at Beulah Cemetery in Marthaville, LA. The family will receive friends from 5:00 pm until 9:00 pm on June 4, 2013 at Blanchard - St. Denis Funeral Home in Natchitoches, LA. Houston Boyt, 87 years of age, passed away June 1, 2013.

Houston was born July 9, 1925 to the late Huey Tom Boyt and Bennie James Boyt in King Hill, LA. Houston was a graduate of Natchitoches High School and a veteran of the U. S. Navy serving in Hawaii during WWII. He retired from Tennessee Gas Transmission (Tenneco) after 32 years of service. He was a Life member of the American Legion and a past member of the VFW.
He dearly loved to visit friends and relatives and never missed an opportunity to talk. In his younger days he enjoyed squirrel hunting and fishing. One of his special loves was golf, a game he learned while caddying for prominent Natchitoches business men at the Natchitoches Country Club where he earned fifty cents a round.

He was a hard worker who provided well for his family and exhibited Christian values and good work ethics to his family.

He is survived by his wife, Wanda Walters Boyt of Natchitoches, LA; four sons, Dennie Boyt and wife Joyce of Natchitoches, LA, Rickey Boyt and wife Dee of Ardmore, OK, Huey Boyt and wife Cindy of Kankakee, IL, and Tommy Boyt and wife Shea of Natchitoches, LA; one daughter, Dee Dee Dunagan and husband Thomas of Natchitoches, LA; three step-sons, Fred Kirschmer and wife Becky of Ammon, ID, Rick Kirschmer and wife Melanie of Brighton, CO, and Mike Kirschmer of Ammon, ID; one step daughter, Rhonda Dean and husband Matt of London, KY; 15 grandchildren; 11 great grandchildren; 11 step grandchildren; and 15 step great grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his first wife, Rose Turner Boyt; one son, William Houston Boyt, Jr.; three sisters; three brothers; and his parents, Huey Tom Boyt and Bennie James Boyt.
