Mrs. A.S. Ford, Oldest Homerite, Succumbs Sunday
Final rites were held for Mrs. Arthur S. Ford Monday afternoon at 5 o'clock from the First Methodist Church, with the pastor, the Rev. D.M. Risinger officiating and the Rev. Leonard Swinney, pastor of the First Presbyterian church, assisting.
Mrs. Ford died at her residence at 11:55 pm Saturday, August 4 after a four weeks' illness. She was born in Vienna, Louisiana April 12, 1863 and moved to Homer at the age of seven years. She was 94 years of age when she passed away and was the oldest citizen of Homer and the oldest member of the First Methodist Church here, having lived in the city for 87 years.
Burial was in Arlington Cemetery. Her grandsons served as pallbearers.
Mrs. Ford is survived by one daughter, Mrs. Harry Westall, of Homer; four sons, Dr. T.J. Ford, Searcy, Ark., Darden Ford, Herbert Ford, and Otts Ford of Homer, fifteen grandchildren, thirty-three great grandchildren and a host of nieces and nephews.
