Funeral services for Reverend Robert Dinnon Butler, age 69 a retired minister and postal carrier of Delhi, Louisiana, will be held at 10AM on Tuesday, July 12, 2011 at Beulah Baptist Church in the Beulah Community near Oak Grove, Louisiana. Reverends Pat Loftin and Jason Lupo will officiate. Interment will follow in the New Forest Cemetery in Forest, Louisiana. Services are under the direction of Cox Funeral Home of Oak Grove, Louisiana. Brother Butler passed from this life on Saturday, July 9, 2011 at the Deerfield Nursing and Rehabilitation Home in Delhi after a lengthy illness. Reverend Butler graduated in 1959 from Forest High School, then attended Northeast Louisiana University. In 1980 he felt God calling him into the ministry. He left his job with Red Ball Motor Freight and moved to Delhi to pastor at Westside Baptist Church for 5 years. He move to Oak Grove and pastored at Beulah Baptist Church for 16 years. He began working at the Delhi Post Office in 1981 as a substitute rural mail carrier. He served in this capacity until assuming Rural Route One full time on May 19, 2001. Upon retiring on Feb. 1, 2004 he continued operating a small business of making windows for rural letter carriers nationwide. He is preceded in death by his parents, R. M. Butler and Bonnie V. Fairchild Butler and a brother, Larry Butler. He is survived by his wife of 50 years, Katherine Blake Butler of Delhi, Louisiana, whom he married at Lamar Baptist Church in Delhi on June 30, 1961. He is survived by his son and daughter-in-law, Dinnon and Dana Butler of Jonesboro, Louisiana; 2 daughters, Deena and Tyra Butler both of Carrollton, Texas; granddaughter, Ashley Kaye Butler of Jonesboro; brother, Prentice Butler of Little Rock, Arkansas; brother, Henry Butler of Pioneer, Louisiana; brother, Mike Butler of Dallas, Texas; brother, Jim Butler of Forest, Louisiana; sister, Jean Hogan of Sterlington, Louisiana; sister, Melba Standifer of Forest; sister, Donna Coffin of Dallas, Texas. Pallbearers are: Harvey Elliott, Kent Davis, Jimmie French, Henry Butler, Mike Butler and Jim Butler. Honorary Pallbearers are: Paul Tubbs, Bob Castilaw, Marvin Hogan and Larry Bonner. Family will receive friends on Monday, July 11, 2001 between the hours of 4 to 8PM at Beulah Baptist Church near Oak Grove, Louisiana. www.coxfuneral.com
